Some people wonder what can really go wrong when you dont change your oil or run low. Oil has many functions in a vehicle, but a couple of the main ones are cooling and lubrication. Now the cooling is done through the lubrication, easing the friction of the moving metal parts and wicking it away. When the oil in your vehicle isnt changed, it looses its ability to efficiently lubricate, which increases friction of the metal parts. This leads to grinding, scoring, and if it gets hot enough, bending and seizing (See video below). Now for your engine to get to that point, you would have to drive for a few miles with zero oil. But! Serious damage can occur by just a few minutes with low oil, and over time with bad oil. So remember, unless you want to buy a new engine, always follow your manufacture recommended service intervals.
